I attended  a conference in Oregon in 1986, and a group of us toured a region in Washington near the devastation caused by the eruption of Mt St Helens six years earlier. I was immediately captivated by the area. Five years later, my wife and I moved to Portland and stayed until 2023. During that time, we made frequent trips to the coast and less frequent trips to the drier east side of the Cascades.  The following photographs are a small sample of the many I took of special places we visited during our time there.
