About Me

I was born and raised in eastern Pennsylvania. I received a BS in Zoology from Penn State University and an MS in Water Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, and subsequently worked for the US Geological Survey for more than 42 years, studying water quality of lakes and streams across the United States. I retired in 2012 and currently spend much of my time pursuing photography. I live in Fort Collins with my wife, Betty, and our two dogs—Clancy (the stoic) and Fergus (the concerned one). I  post occasionally on Instagram @d_macdogall. The dogs post occasionally @macdogall_bros.
