While living in Oregon, we spent many summers driving to Colorado to visit my older daughter. On most trips, we drove through southern Utah and/or northern New Mexico to visit a national monument, or national or state park, or historic Ancestral Puebloan site. There are many. I also had the opportunity to visit Big Bend National Park during a business trip to Austin. It’s a long drive from almost anywhere, but well worth the effort.
