BERGEN, NORWAY (August 2 - 4, 2026) — The North Sea crossing from Shetland was relatively smooth and uneventful, and we were in Bergen by mid-morning. We rode the funicular to the top of Mt Floyen, then took a walking tour of the city, including Bryggen, an historic area where the Hanseatic League controlled European maritime trade for much of the medievil period. The following day, we visited a stave church and had a home-hosted lunch with a local family. We were scheduled to leave Bergen later that day, but the ship developed an electrical issue, and we had to wait until the following day for a part to arrive before departing. The good news is we had an unexpected, interesting tour of a Norwegian fish farm that was raising steelhead.
