GEIRANGER FJORD, NORWAY (August 5, 2026) — Geiranger Fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a small arm of the much larger Storfjorden located southeast of the port city of Alesund. Geiranger Fjord is about 15 km long, 1.5 km wide, and 700 m deep. The town of Geiranger at the end of the fjord has approximately 230 permanent inhabitants, and receives about 700,000 visitors during the tourist season. Photographs of the fjord were taken from an electric-powered tour boat (not the MV Corinthian). Photographs of the Geirangelva River (I would call it a stream), which flows into the fjord at Geiranger, were taken from the walking path and the 327 steel stairs (200+ feet of elevation gain, assuming an 8 in riser) that lead from the village to the Norwegion Fjord Center above the village.
