I have not lived in Washington; however, I have visited on many occasions. During my first visit in 1976, I saw the Washington coast, Seattle, and Olympic National Park. During my second visit in 1986, I was able to see, up close, some of the desolation created 6 years earlier by the eruption of Mt St helens. Both visits impressed upon me, in different ways, the beauty of the Pacific northwest and were instrumental in my wife’s and my decision to eventually move to Oregon. While in Oregon, we visited Washington regularly to spend time with friends and enjoy the area just across the Columbia River.
